I only tested this with the SS breed Squawkling. It should not matter if your Cobalt Raven dies prior to getting the second moonfire off, all times I tested still had the Squawkling finishing except once. Any lvl 25 flying pet with a magic type ability will easily finish off any remaining boss HP.
