Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
RNG
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Unborn Val'kyr and Fossilized Hatchling worked great with this. Didn't even have to use my 3rd pet.

For the Direbeak: Sister of Temptation and Anubsath Idol worked too.

For the Bloodgazer: Fel Pup and Twilight Spider worked great.

Thanks for the translation. I still don't know how you discover the numerical version of any given pet ability. Also, recently I been using use() as that saves space on every line.

If you are using the Rematch addon in conjunction with the tdBattlePetScript_Rematch addon, the spells and numbers will pop up automatically when you write scripts whilst in a pet battle.

This strategy workes just fine, thank you for that!
I was just thinking, does anyone know how to learn to write a scribt for this strategy?

Sorry, I'm total new to this, but really want to know how to learn it.

Kathleene wrote on 2017-10-12 15:12:49

This battle doesn't seem to give a ton of XP, but it does give some. To test how much is gained, I placed a L14 Minfernal in my third slot. When my Fel Pup died, I brought in the Minfernal, then swapped him out for the Lost Netherpup. Minfernal didn't sustain any damage. He gained 1417 XP and went to L15. That XP was a culmination of Sign of the Critter, Safari Hat, Pet Treat, and Lesser Pet Treat. I do think that TJ's suggestion, earlier, to place your leveling pet in the first slot is superior to what I did. Lil'idan seems to cast a self buff first turn, so it should be a lot safer than my method; plus, you can probably use a lower-level pet that way. Thanks for the tips and strategies, folks.

Kathleene wrote on 2017-10-18 13:38:48

A sad day. Apparently, the Pet Treats seem to have been nerfed. They no longer stack. Pet Treat seems to replace Lesser Pet Treat; and, if you try to re-cast Lesser, you get a message that a stronger spell is already in place. I guess we pet battlers were just way too overpowered. <sigh>

You can place Bloodgazer Hatchling in place of "Any Pet" :)

The choice of side abilities is a bit odd tho, Vengeance has no point when a faster pet suffers DoTs.

When to restart fight?
A quick observation gives me a conclusion that for pups alone, you can survive no more than two dodges.

TJ wrote on 2017-01-12 11:31:47

I used the two pup combo and was leveling ikky up at 17 i started with ikky and used black claw then switched and did what it says to do from there and by the time the second pup came in he only needed one hit left.

Solitha wrote on 2016-09-27 19:23:44

Any strat you find for this guy is going to be very iffy, due to Lil'idan's buff that allows him to dodge a lot. Don't lose heart, just keep trying until RNG smiles upon you.

I found another team that is Unborn Val'kyr 1-2-2 and Infected Fawn 1-?-?.
1.. Curse of Doom. If it misses, restart.
2. Shadow Slash spam until UV's first death.
3. Unholy Ascension in the undead round.
4. Bring in the Fawn and spam Diseased Bite.

You might want to have another pet with Diseased Bite in the third slot just for insurance.

Sarth wrote on 2016-12-15 07:06:17

Instead of the Fawn I had a Fel pup, with howl, and ghastly kid. Might be good to try the howl and then spam the bite, with one hit it may die that way.

Fragie wrote on 2016-12-14 12:12:50

11 times try and all the time all pets die because of dodge dodge dodge.... this is not 25% dodge... for me was 75% dodge....

Erstin wrote on 2016-10-09 03:28:13

Bone Seprent 1-2-1 is also a very good pet here.

Aeliel wrote on 2016-09-20 05:40:05

Val'kyr and Zandalari Kneebiter worked for me (Curse of Doom, Haunt, Black Claw, Hunting Party). Had no misses, though, so YMMV depending on RNG.

Jagûar

wrote on 2016-09-20 19:38:57

This strategy should be first choise. I tried the first suggestion alot, but after trying the suggestion by Aeliel, it went through the 3rd time around (had bad luck at 1st and 2nd try).

Landing both Curse of Doom+Haunt+Black Claw made it easy for Hunting Party to demolish this bastard.

Thank you Aeliel

Xeir wrote on 2016-09-20 20:14:52

This. I actually threw 2 Shadow Shocks in there before Haunt and it made it so CoD landed on the turn I cast Black Claw. This might not work as well with unlucky crits as your Val'kyr might die. Thought I would mention it regardless.

Anonymous wrote on 2016-09-21 04:13:25

perfect strat, worked 1st time without problem

Schahmaar wrote on 2016-10-08 21:10:35

Works perfectly (also with anklerender). You should cancel the fight and restart, whenever one of Curse,Haunt or Black Claw misses, though.

Aranesh

wrote on 2016-10-08 23:47:29

The combination of Val'kyr + a pet with Flock or Stampede is indeed very effective here. I added it, thanks :-)

FlibbitSC wrote on 2016-09-20 00:41:27

This team works perfectly, with slightly modified attacks. Since crouch has a 4 round cooldown, it wasn't available to use again on turn 5. Instead, I used another diseased bite on turn 5, then howl on turn 6, Fel Pup dies and Lost Netherpup comes in, then darkflame and shadow shock win the fight.

Nyanmara wrote on 2016-09-19 20:05:40

I am so sorry but this does not work at all. Had a 3rd pet as backup and was still smashed into the grounds. Did they change anything? Well .. need a different strat, I guess.

Marsieh wrote on 2016-09-19 20:51:37

This actually worked very well for me. Two Shadow Shocks and Lil'idan was dead. Maybe bad RNG?

Sabalz wrote on 2016-09-20 00:25:57

I only had the Fel pup, used two other beasts with similar spells and managed to beat him. Sounds like very bad RNG.

Tormentia wrote on 2016-09-19 23:39:20

There is definitely a lot of RNG involved in this fight. The above 2 pets always died before the fight was complete until I added Ghastly Kid to the mix. Mine is an H/H breed and he was able to clinch the fight by using Diseased Bite and Ghostly Bite.

Anonymous wrote on 2016-09-19 20:51:56

You can use the standard valkyr and ikky combo... curse of doom, haunt, bring in ikky, black claw and then flock, but yeah because of evasion this match is really RNG heavy.

Lorrdzik wrote on 2016-09-19 20:40:09

Worked on the first try, but I guess its heavy random based on evasion.
